Pauline Giblett

Pauline completed a Mothercraft Nursing Certificate at NGALA in 1984 and has worked in childcare for around twenty years. Pauline attained a Certificate in Community and Welfare Studies (Carine TAFE) and a Certificate in Community and Residential Care (Central TAFE). After travelling in the USA for 18 months, she returned to Perth and worked with juveniles in secure detention for five years before having her own children.

Pauline’s eldest son opened her eyes to the importance of language and the necessity to communicate with other people – especially when he exhibited habitual biting before he learned to talk! Once he had mastered the basics of language he was able to tell jokes from a young age, perhaps this wasn't such a good idea in hind sight! Her second child also had the benefit of another child in the home to help role model her language.

Language has become an area that Pauline is passionate about – especially in the playgroups she has co-ordinated. She loves to see the joy in children's eyes light up when they master a song or a rhyme and watch as their confidence grows. Pauline especially enjoys watching infants absorbing language and begin to lay down the vital pathways necessary for language.
